Karpal Kaur

Psychodynamic Counsellor

  • Adults

Karpal is a qualified Counsellor, working Psychodynamically, which means helping you understand your emotions.

Karpal is aware that there may be traumatic events that have happened in the past which could be triggering such feelings of vulnerability and overwhelm. She also knows that it can feel daunting to reach out for help but by us working together she can provide that space in a safe, and confidential environment to explore these issues. There may be many reasons for accessing counselling and I am mindful that everyone has a story. I am also aware that there can be stigma attached in seeking emotional support.

Karpal is mindful that every individual is unique and so are their needs. She is passionate in exploring the most important relationship which is with ourselves. We will explore childhood development patterns and how this has been carried through to all your past/present relationships. As a result, identifying the common pitfalls that has led to an imbalanced emotional state of being. Rebuilding that self-awareness by exploring many coping strategies for authentic transformation to take place.

Working together, it will allow us to explore how we relate with each other, providing clarity on your other relationships.

Karpal has experience of working with adults and young persons (18+) with a range of issues (to name a few…)

  • Anxiety and Overwhelm

  • Grief and Loss

  • Abuse (Physical, Emotional and Psychological)

  • Trauma (Childhood, PTSD and Generational)

  • Low Self-esteem / Confidence

  • Relationship struggles

  • Anger, Shame and Fear

Karpal has 15+ years of experience of being a Samaritan Listener. Dealing with callers and in person who are emotionally desperate, in need and suicidal. Offering a confidential/non-judgemental space to allow them to communicate their pain and suffering, an emotional outlet to seek any possible hope.

I am a full member of The British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy and abide by their Ethical framework. I take part in regular Continuing Professional Development training to remain current and aid good working practices.

My ethnic origin is Indian, and I can offer culturally sensitive therapy. I have experience of working cross-culturally from different race, ethnicity and religious backgrounds.

Karpal practices from Sunrise Wellbeing Nook in Groby, where she provides in person therapy to adults (18+). She also provides online and telephone sessions.
