Young People aged 16+

Adults

Hello, my name is Niki, and thank you for being here on my page.

I’m an experienced and professionally qualified person-centered Counsellor with my private practice in LE2 Leicester, close to Fosse Park.

I also work as a counsellor for First Step in Leicester, an organisation that supports male survivors of sexual abuse.

I work with clients face to face and also by video or phone call.

My professional experience

I have a lot of experience working with people suffering from the effects of both current and historic trauma, current crisis, abuse – mental, emotional, physical and sexual abuse, which includes domestic violence and controlling relationships.

I also see clients suffering from depression, anxiety and panic.

This means I help many men and women with their feelings of grief and loss, anger and rage, fear, shame and profound sadness.

I help my clients through the effects of debilitating self-esteem issues, relationship breakdowns and issues connected to relationships, suicidal fears and thoughts, addiction, intrusive thoughts and fears, self-harm and destructive behaviours.

What I offer

My counselling room is a safe space for you. I ensure that it is a place where you can be yourself with complete acceptance from me, without pressure and without judgement. Your experiences are completely unique, and as I see it, you need to be offered the space and freedom to work at your own unique pace.

I work with both male and female clients, from the age of 16. Clients can access private counselling face to face at one of my practice locations, and also I counsel by video and phone call. This give you choice and freedom. Something that is much needed.

Many of my clients find that counselling has helped to improve their self-esteem, confidence, self-worth and therefore their communication in asserting themselves. They managing difficult feelings and thoughts in a better way, they feel psychologically stronger and make decisions more easily.

For my young clients my counselling is especially useful for building their resilience and self-worth.

Whilst I do not promise it will be an easy journey, it is a journey of that can change the rest of your life for the better.

EMDR for Trauma

Aside from my core professional training, I have recently qualified in an additional therapy known as EMDR therapy.

For anyone who has experienced a traumatic event, this therapy can be extremely beneficial and life-changing in helping you to view the event from a different perspective.

Normal experiences are processed and stored by the brain.

When we experience shock/trauma the experiences are not processed, they are fragmented. EMDR helps transform the fragmented memories into a whole memory.

This is why after a few EMDR sessions, clients perceive the trauma as belonging to the past and no longer to the present.
